Age: 35
Current Characters: Ethlyn
Character Name: Visas Marr
Character Canon: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Canon Point: Postgame
Age: Unspecified but probably in her mid-20's
Crime: Abrogation (for abrogating her responsibility, to treat meaning as nonexistant, to throw herself into service of one master and then another as a trauma response)
Background: Visas Marr on Wookieepedia. Rolling with the canonical light-side female Exile.
Personality: Visas is a deeply damaged individual. In the space of a day, her world and everyone on it was reduced to ashes, and she was claimed as a slave by the entity responsible for the destruction. Whatever Visas was like before--her personality, her life, her goals--were all torn away, leaving a fragmented void. It was only her association with the Jedi Exile that allowed Visas to consider that existence was not utterly meaningless. Like Darth Nihilus, the Exile's presence in the Force was a hungering void, but unlike Nihilus, the Exile retained her personhood--she strove for life and goodness. Seeing the Exile defy her pain gave Visas the strength to break her own allegiance to Nihilus.
Her most obvious trait is her sense of devotion. In a sense, Visas simply has nothing else. After being spared by the Jedi Exile, Visas' habitual greeting to her was "my life for yours" and even offered to slay herself to gain an advantage in the battle with Nihilus. The Exile, like Visas, had experienced pain beyond imagining, and yet chose to continue striving for life and goodness. That quality drew Visas like iron to a magnet. She was ready and willing to give her life for the Exile at any point. It is also a demonstration of how little Visas values her own life for the sake of living it. The best thing she could think to do with it was to support someone she saw as superior to herself. Visas thinks little of her own pain and inconvenience--it would be difficult for any experience to be as terrible as the destruction of Katarr.
Despite the positive influence of the Exile, Visas still carries some harsh, even ugly opinions. On one planet, she strongly advocates for supporting a would-be dictator because of his strength and initiative. She even suggests throwing grenades in an enclosed cantina because she considers the patrons' souls to be "dirty and insignificant." She once told the Exile, questioning why Visas followed the Sith, "there are many kinds of hate". Following Katarr's destruction, Visas craved silence and order and despised anything--anyone--that disrupted that. She sought the quiet of death, and while she was not permitted it herself, she had no scruple about bringing it to others. Even now she does not always value the lives of others as much as she should.
On an interpersonal level, Visas no longer has a sense of social niceties. She approaches topics in a direct manner and doesn't have much sense of tact or sense what is appropriate or inappropriate. She will raise dark and uncomfortable subjects without preamble. On the other hand, Visas is a sincere individual; while she won't tell all her history in a first meeting, she isn't a person with many secrets. And although her sense of self-worth is painfully low, Visas does still have a strong sense of dignity. She will not speak or behave in any manner she finds demeaning.
Abilities:
The Forceā¢: Visas is strong in the Force. She can use it for minor tasks, such as telekinesis, but she has combat abilities too. As an ex-Sith she has learned darker powers such as Force Scream (psychic damage), Force Coke, Drain Life, and Lightning (painful but not the Luke Skywalker-killing kind).
Force Sight: As a Miraluka, Visas does not have physical eyes but insteads sees entirely through the Force. Normally, Force Sight allows someone to perceive the character of others--if they are malicious or benevolent--but hers is still damaged from what Nihilus did to her. (Naturally I will have a permissions post for this!) Inanimate objects appear in shades of grey, while living matter is luminous.
Lightsaber combat: zhoop zhoop. She is very good at this.
Computer skills: Yeah, so Visas is kind of a code nerd. Perhaps this was what she did for a living before her world was destroyed? Either way, her non-Force skills tend in the technological direction.
Inventory:
A single-bladed red lightsaber
Samples:
TDM toplevel
Thred with Tendi
Questions: On a similar vein to the previous question about the Force & NPCs, if Visas were to use energy/psychic powers on NPCs (hypothetically), what would happen? e.g. would she be able to mind trick or drain life, or would that not work on them?
